“Estimating the benefits”; a venture into Latex’s beamer package

A few months ago, a paper on Estimating the benefits of single valued and probabilistic forecasts for flood warning by Micha Werner and myself was published in HESS. Last Wednesday, I gave a presentation on the concepts developed in that paper to the Deltares Statistics Community.

I prepared the slides using Latex’s “beamer” package. Not only do the slides look very well (if I say so myself), but I was able to re-use a lot of the equations and graphs that I had prepared for the manuscript. “As is”, so no need to tinker with the figures or the equations.

The presentation itself went quite well. I had more time available than I had on previous occasions, and the statistics-users were well able to quickly understand the concepts laid out in the presentation. Feedback was good, which is nice.

The slides can be downloaded from here, and so can the .tex file.
